-          Provides leadership for a college composed of three academic divisions with over 3,100 students at the associate and baccalaureate levels.

Selected Accomplishments 

Assessment and Institutional Improvement:

  • Directed development of the college-wide Strategic Plan.
  • Formed the college’s first campus-wide assessment committee.
  • Developed annual Inventory of Assessment Activities for all academic programs and services.
  • Initiated and directed the implementation of a robust program of assessing student learning outcomes consistent with the SUNY general education mandate.
  • Directed campus general education since 2001. Assumed leading role in writing and securing successful adoption of the general education plan; courses have been added to the plan and a successful Strengthened Campus-based Assessment plan is in place consistent with the state university mandate.
  • Coordinated successful effort to establish selective process for internal and external applicants    to Delhi’s Associate Degree-Registered Nurse program.
  • Introduced a sustained program of assessing outcomes of the College’s developmental classes in mathematics and writing.
  • Sustained persistent, successful efforts to expand the range of approved general education courses available to students.
  • *Authored Closing the Loop document submitted to document campus actions taken as a result of assessment efforts in accordance with university mandate.

Program Development:

  • Collaborated with nursing faculty to introduce and enroll a highly successful RN to BSN online degree program that presently enrolls over 450 highly motivated students.
  • Coordinated successful effort to create an online summer school program that has added course options for students and generated over $500,000 in net revenue for the College.
  • Developed program proposal and obtained state university approval for AA degree program in Criminal Justice Studies that currently enrolls approximately fifty-five students.
  • Developed program proposal and obtained state university approval for AS degree program in Environmental Studies that currently enrolls approximately fifty-five students.
  • Guided development of the College’s first baccalaureate degree in the Liberal Arts.

Academic Improvement:

  • Encouraged and supported though divisional resources the introduction of more interactive technology within both traditional and face to face classes.
  • Guided liberal arts faculty effort to introduce a wide range of upper level classes required for the introduction and expansion of baccalaureate degree programs.
  • Recruited faculty members to teach a series of honors program courses as part of the College’s Presidential Scholars program.
  • Secured State University approval for Undeclared option that allows students up to one academic year to select a major field of study. 
  • Instituted student success work group to identify strategies to improve retention, transfer and graduation.

External Accreditation and Review:

  • Vice-Chair of the State University of New York Chief Academic Officers Organization, 2011-12
  • Co-chaired Self-Study Reaccreditation Steering Committee Team 1999-2001. Coordinated and served as lead author of 2007 Middle States Periodic Review Report.
  • Principal author of campus Mission Review II Memorandum of Understanding document outlining College’s goals, aspiration enrollment and retention strategies for a five year period.
  • Co-chaired and served as principal author of campus Periodic Review Report submitted to MSCHE June 2007.
  • External Review Panelist for Outcomes Assessment, Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, 2004.

  • Chaired Search Committee for Dean of Hospitality and Business, 2006.

  • Obtained two major Small Cities grant awards; smallest New York State city to receive a City by City Award of $1 million from Office of the Governor; awarded $1.3 million in New York State Economic Development funds for downtown and park project.
  • Successfully negotiated multiple collective bargaining agreements; built strong relationships with state and federal elected officials and policy makers.
  • Served as a member of the New York Conference of Mayors Policy and Nominating Committees.
  • Implemented environmental initiatives that drew state and national attention.
